Harpsden CC v Wargrave CC.
Sunday 27th April 2008.
Harpsden Captain Andy Norton won the toss and on a soggy but drying early season pitch elected to field. This proved a good decision when Wargrave were reduced to 11 for 3 following some accurate bowling from the opening pair of Tom Hancock and Harry Williams and then Mick Greenwood taking the wicket of Smith with his first ball of the season. Wargrave put up brief resistance with a partnership of 51 from Jones and Jelfery but with 6 catches being taken behind the stumps, 4 by keeper Broome and two by slip Tom Sampson, Wargrave could only manage a meagre 118 for 8 off their allotted 40 overs. After tea Harpsden got off to a flying start with the openers Broome and Sam Imlay racing to 51 for 1 off the first 8 overs. More accurate bowling by Jelfery and Morton slowed the progress but a fourth wicket partnership of 52 by Tom Sampson and Andy Norton meant that Harpsden eased to victory with 16 overs to spare.
