Harpsden won the toss and chose to field in what looked to be a lovely spring day. Eversley got off to a streaky start, with a lot of edges narrowly missing the slips and gulley. Sampson made the breakthrough with a good delivery, clean bowling Gallagher. This brought Howorth to the crease, he settled quickly with Hammond, despite numerous balls from Hancock narrowly missing the outside edge. Hammond sportingly retired on 53, with Howorth following suit soon after. A Martin was caught on the boundary with a good catch from Grimmer, off the bowling of Tapan. Eversley finished on a very respectable 171-2.

Harpsden came to the crease knowing that chasing 172 to win was going to be no easy task. And they certainly found it harder after the fall of four quick wickets, leaving Harpsden reeling on 40-4. Harpsden regrouped, only to have Rajeev bowled by a beauty from M Martin. This brought Sampson to the crease to join Hayden. Hayden played beautifully after this, finishing on a match saving, quite brilliant 51 not out. He was also well supported by Tom Sampson, who finished on a well crafted 29 not out.
